The brief

The JB Sports brand came to TDC&Co at a crossroads, facing strategic decisions around its future. Historically, it had operated as a general sporting goods store with a wide range of products and categories: technical wear and gear, activewear, equipment, and streetwear. With the recent diversification into JB Active and Motiv8, JB Sports needed to reposition itself outside of this space and focus instead on athleisure: both sports leisure and smart casual. Our job was to create this new brand, JB, along with the related design system to communicate it.

Our solution

Our process began with identifying the emotional cues associated with athleisure. As a category, it’s about dynamism and energy, and the promise of reaching your potential. We created a brand with a self-assured and stylish attitude, inviting customers to choose their own rhythm and claim the confidence to move and live life freely. This was executed through a colour palette of vibrant and energetic hues and a visual language based on movement. This includes a graphic line element to visually convey the feeling of the brand, and photography that is optimistic and aspirational, centred on different sporting activities.
